NC 304 was born about 1923 as new primary routing. It ran from NC 302 (current NC 55) Bayboro east to Vandemere.
In 1930, NC 304 was rerouted to extend out to Hobucken. The stub from Cash Corner to Vandemere became NC 307.

There is not a lot of excitement on NC 304. The NC 33 multiplex near the end of the road did not occur until at the late 40's, so remember that NC 304 was there first... |
