The Roads:

The 1st US 25 Business was born in 1960 when mainline US 25-70 was put on a new bypass north around Marshall. The eastern end was at today's NC 251.
In January 1982 (NCDOT), US 25-70 Business was extended east along what was now NC 251, then east replacing SR 1586 to the new US 25-70.
US 25-70 Business uses Jerry Allen Dr, Main St and Mashburn Hill Rd within Marshall.
West of NC 251 was once part of original NC 20, except Rollins Rd was NC 20.

The 2nd US 25 Business was born in Sept 2003 (NCDOT) when US 25 was placed on a bypass east around Hendersonville. US 25 Bus was assigned to US 176 and north of Hendersonville replaced mainline US 25.
US 25 Business uses Spartanburg Hwy through East Flat Rock to Hendersonville. In Downtown Hendersonville, US 25 Business has one-way splits: NB uses King St and SB uses Church St. North of here US 25 Business uses Main St and Asheville Hwy.
US 25 Business south of E. Flat Rock was once original NC 191 and north of Hendersonville was original NC 29.
Official maps show this as US 25-A in the Blue Ridge Pkwy inset.
