US 158: Appeared in June 1932 as a renumbering of US 117 and VA 507, running from US 58 Franklin south to the North Carolina line. In Franklin it used High St from 4th over to current US 258 Business south out of Franklin to North Carolina.
In Oct 1940, US 158 in Virginia was renumbered as US 258 following AASHO approval on June 20, 1940.
US 158 had a long VA 158 extension that ran to Smithfield.
