VA 297 Bus: Appeared December 1969 (CTB Minutes), when Bedford was bypassed to the south by then-VA 297. The CTB minutes specifically stated that 297 Business went all the way through town to the west side of the bypass. Note that from VA 43 westward had not been part of VA 297 anytime previously (was only US 460).
VA 297 Bus was replaced in its entirety by US 460 Bus in December 1970 (CTB Minutes). VA 297 is the only Virginia State Hwy Business route to have ever been eliminated.
