VA 434: Appeared in December 1930 as new primary routing, running from US 1, VA 12-31 South Hill west 9.74 miles to just past North View.
In July 1932 (CTB), VA 434 replaced CR 14 to end at VA 12-44 (now VA 47-49-92) Chase City. In July 1933, VA 434 became VA 47. Note that in South Hill VA 434 began at the Plank Rd jct with US 1-58, using Plank Rd to Opie Rd to current VA 47, plus the nearby SR 755 loop. VA 434 also used SR 664 south of Northview and abandoned routing. VA 47 was also straightened out in several other locations resulting in 2.5 miles worth of abandoned alignments that VA 434 used.
