Creation: SC 201 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from SC 20 north to today's SC 184. This is the only SC 201.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 201 was extended as new primary routing northwest to SC 284, then northeast to end at SC 185.
In 1942, SC 201 was extended south with SC 20 to Abbeville, then south as new primary routing to Candy Branch Rd just short of Long Cane Creek. Also, SC 201 north was rerouted at SC 284 to instead continue northwest to SC 185. Northeast to SC 185 became part of SC 284.
In 1947, SC 201 was reduced to its current routing. North of SC 284 became S-4-41; SC 20 remained into Abbeville; South of Abbeville became S-1-33.
