Creation: SC 248 first appeared in 1940 as new primary ruoting, running the way it does now. This is the 2nd SC 248.
Adjustments: In 1945, SC 248 was extended south as new primary routing to SC 67 Callison.
In 1947, SC 248 south was truncated back to US 178, leaving behind S-24-44.

Improvements: SC 248 was fully paved upon designation. There are no multilane segments.
Comment: SC 248 serves the Ninety-Six National Historical Site, as well as the original location of the town of Ninety-Six.

SC 248 #1: Appeared in 1929 as a renumbering of the original SC 151, running from US 76 east of Anderson northeast to SC 20 Williamston.
In 1930, SC 248's south end was shifted to instead end at US 29 (now SC 81) in Anderson. The old route to US 76 is now part of US 29's Anderson Bypass.
In 1935, SC 248 was renumbered as part of US 29. Today it is part of US 29 Business, US 29, and the US 29-SC 20 CONN.
