Creation: SC 265 appeared in 1926 as new primary routing, running from SC 26 (now US 521 Bus) Kershaw east to SC 35 (now SC 151 Bus) Jefferson. This is the only SC 265.
Adjustments: In 1928, SC 265 was extended east as new primary routing to end at SC 9 near Ruby.

About 1937, SC 265 was removed from today's Mack Raley Rd (used to connect with 265 at the Lynches River) and Baker St out of Jefferson.
In 1940, SC 265 was extended west as new primary routing to end at SC 97 Liberty Hill.
In 1947, SC 265 west was truncated back to US 521 Kershaw, leaving behind S-28-13 (now this is a bit of SC 522, S-28-13 and S-29-13).
By 1948, SC 265 was rebuilt onto new alignment from about SC 268 to near SC 109, leaving behind mostly non-maintained dirt roads some of which are called Old 265 Road and some which do not exist at all anymore. Also in this timeframe SC 265 was removed from a loop east of Jefferson that includes a primitive dirt road and current Emsley Sullivan Rd.
In 1951, SC 265 west was truncated to US 601, as US 601 replaced part of SC 265.

In 1952, SC 267 north was rerouted. Instead of going to Fort Motte, it instead replaced S-9-92 to end at US 601 as it does today. The old path to Fort Motte became SC 419.

Improvements: SC 265 was paved from Kershaw to today's US 601 split in 1934 or 1935.
SC 265 was paved from US 601 to Jefferson in 1936 or 1937.
SC 265 was paved from Jefferson to SC 109 around 1948.
SC 265 was paved from SC 109 to SC 9 in 1949.
SC 265 has no multilane segments.
Comment: SC 265 is one of the longer routes in S.C. that I have not driven. Can be used as an alternate to SC 9 from Chesterfield to Lancaster (via SC 903).
