In 1942, SC 334 was extended west as new primary routing to SC 64 near Barnwell.
In 1947, SC 334 was downgraded to S-6-36, S-5-28 (now S-5-22) west of Govan, S-5-22 east of Govan, and S-5-23 east of US 301.
