<SC 391 | Home | SC 393 >
From: (Aiken County)
To: Ridge Spring (Saluda County)
Total Length: 3.6 miles
ROUTE LOG
US 1: 0 - 0
Saluda-Aiken Line: 1.3 - 1.3
SC 23, SC 39: 2.3 - 3.6
Creation: SC 392 appeared in 1925 or 1926 as mostly new primary routing, running from SC 39 Ridge Spring north through Saluda, Chappells, and Cross Hill before replacing SC 10 and ending at the new SC 10 (now US 221 though possibly S-30-6) Cold Point. This is the only SC 392.
Adjustments: In appears that in 1934, SC 392 was extended south as new primary routing to US 1.
In 1935, SC 392 north was truncated to SC 23-39 Ridge Spring. The long route to Cold Point became part of SC 39. SC 392 likely used Soule Chapel Church Rd/Poplar Springs Rd loop south of Cross Hill

Improvements: Fully paved from Saluda to Chappells by 1932
Current SC 392 was fully paved in 1935.
No multilane segments
Comment: SC 392 was one of the longer 3-digit routes in South Carolina in the early days. Now it just connects US 1 to Ridge Spring.
