SC 72 Bus #1: Appeared in 1950 as a renumbering of part of US 21 from SC 72 north into downtown Rock Hill, ending at US 21-SC 5 (now S-46-85 Main St).
In 2013, SC 72 Business became mainline SC 72 south of SC 122 while north of SC 122 was removed from the highway system altogether and is just Saluda St. This may be a near-unique example of a business route that was never the mainline first then became the mainline later. Although many maps showed SC 72 Business as SC 72 with the bypass as SC 72 Bypass, there definitely were SC 72 Business postings.
About 1987, SC 121 Bus was decommissioned, leaving behind S-12-276 south of Chester and S-12-275 north of Chester.
