Creation: The I-65 corridor north of Nashville appeared in 1939 as part of the long-term national planning leading to the Interstate system. South of Nashville appeared in the 1943 Interregional Highway System. Opening dates for most of the information below come from Wikipedia, which references newspaper articles
Adjustments: The first segment of I-65 to open was the brief US 31 overlay at the Alabama border, which opened in November 1958. Note the Alabama side was built as a regular 4-lane highway before the Interstate System was passed in Congress.
