Creation: Appeared in 1923 as an original state highway, running from TN 6 (now US 412 Bus) Columbia southeast through Pulaski to enter Alabama at Ardmore.
Adjustments: In 1939 or 1940, TN 7 was extended northwest as new state highway to end in Santa Fe
In the 1940s, TN 7 was removed from 2 Old Hwy 7 loops just north of Columbia; Old Sante Fe Rd
About 1947, TN 7 was removed from S Main St in Columbia
Between 1940-51, TN 7 was removed from Union Hall Rd/Delap Rd north of Ardmore; Gowan Rd/footprint of I-65; Old Hwy 31 south of Elkton and Bluff/Market Sts within Elkton; Newman Rd north of TN 273
In 1953 or 1954, TN 7 was extended northwest as more new state highway to end at New Flys Village.
About 1957, US 31 was moved to I-65's eventual footprint. It is unclear if TN 7 moved with it, as the 1959 Official explicitly labels TN 7 into Ardmore. It is unclear if this is also when TN 7 was placed on Main St through Ardmore (replacing a bit of TN 110) until the road curves southeast into Alabama.

I believe in the 1970s, TN 7 was removed from 7th and High Sts in Columbia to instead use Garden St and Campbell Blvd.
Between 1990-92, TN 7 was extended northwest as new state highway (new construction) to its current endpoint at TN 46-100 bon Aqua.

About 1999, TN 7 was removed from Santa Fe Rd/Fly Rd north of TN 247
In 2004, TN 7 was removed from Santa Fe Pike in Atherdale; Santa Fe Rd south of TN 247
About 2006, TN 7 was removed from Campbell Blvd in Columbia to use more US 31 and the US 43-412 bypass around back to Santa Fe Pike.
Posting: TN 7 is fully unposted between I-65 and Columbia.
TN 7 is mapped as secondary southeast of I-65, though some primary shields exist in Ardmore. TN 7 is considered primary everywhere else.
Secret US Route Overlay: US 31 (49.2 mi)
Comment: TN 7 in Ardmore is posted as AL 53 east of TN 110 and there is even an Alabama mile marker on the Tennessee side of the road.
TN 7 provides a modern route from Columbia to the Dickson area (via TN 46) that became obsolete when I-840 was constructed.
