Creation: Appeared in 1927 or 1928 running from TN 30 Mount Crest to the Herbert Domain Correctional Facility. TN 30 was still using Old Spencer Rd then and how TN 101 connected to it appears to be an abandoned roadway south to Old Spencer Rd.
Adjustments: About 1930, TN 101 south was truncated to today's TN 30 routing.
In 1983, TN 101 north was rerouted away from Herbert Domain and extended northeast through Crossville to Fairfield Glade. The old route to Herbert Domain became part of TN 285 and all of TN 301.
Between 1983-89, TN 101 was given its current alignment from US 70/TN 392 to I-40. The old routing used Dayton Spur Rd and 1st St.
About 2011, TN 101 was removed from Old Lantana Rd south of TN 392 and placed on new construction and a brief TN 392 overlay.
Posting: Posted as secondary routing throughout.
The overlay with US 70 is not posted.
The north endpoint, on Peavine Rd just past the Snead Rd/Warehouse Rd intersection is posted.
Secret US Route Overlay: None
Comment: There is nowhere else for TN 101 to go past Fairfield Glade...only paved outlet would be to loop back south to Crab Orchard via Hebbertsville Rd.
