Creation: Appeared in 1958 as a replacement for TN 22 (except the piece at its north end between Rush St and TN 22 which was new construction) from the TN 22-69 split south of Milledgeville via Jacks Creek to southern Lexington.
Adjustments: Between 1973-80, TN 22A south was truncated to its current ending at TN 22-69 north split in Milledgeville. The old route is Main St plus abandoned routing over White Oak Creek. It is unclear if the short piece in Milledgeville between Main and new TN 22-69 had a designation prior to this or not.
