TN 56A: Appeared between 1957-59 as a renumbering of TN 56 between US 70N Double Springs and TN 56 (now Old Gainesboro Rd) Bloomington Springs.
In the late 1960s, TN 56A was extended northwest to the new TN 56 alignment through the area. In 1983, TN 56A was renumbered as TN 291.
