US 276: In June 1941. North Carolina request an extension of US 276 from Waynesville to Knoxville via Smoky Mountain National Park. In Tennessee this would have been added to TN 71.
North Carolina said it had Tennessee's buy in for this extension. However, it did not have AASHO buy-in. |
