ROUTE LOG US 58: 0 - 0 SR 612, SR 735: 3.65 - 3.65 |
Creation: Appeared in 1937 as a renumbering of one of the myriad pieces of VA 32. Ran from VA 40 Sussex CH area south to the Sussex-Southampton County Line. This is the 2nd VA 308.
Adjustments: In 1945 or 1946, a second discontinuous piece of VA 308 appeared, from US 58 to SR 612. In April 1949 (CTB Minutes), the original piece of VA 308 was downgraded to SR 735, leaving behind current VA 308. The 5 mile gap between the pieces was never connected. Improvements: The initial section of VA 308 was paved upon designation The southern (current) piece wasn't paved until 1951. No multilane segments Posting: Fully posted Multiplexes: NONE Legislative names: NONE Other names: Three Creeks Rd. (entire route) Scenic Byway: No segments Comment: I think this is the only 3xx route that started out as a normal route and was reduced to a state facility route.
