VA 336
Photo: The entirety of VA 336 looking south (photo by Mapmikey, July 16, 2006)
State Police Station, Fort Chiswell, Wythe County
Total Length: 0.35 mile

Creation: Appeared August 1960 (CTB). This is the 4th VA 336.
Adjustments: Between 1968-82, the HQ building was relocated to be further back from then-US 11/52. This caused the lower end of VA 336 to be shifted eastward a little bit (there didn't used to be the curve at the midway point).
In the mid-1980s when I-77/81 was constructed, VA 336 was truncated ever so slightly, as F-043 does not run directly on top of the former WB lanes of US 11-52.
Posting: Posted with shields both directions on F-043.
Comment: A spur off of F-043.

VA 336 #2: Created May 1938 (CTB). Began at US 360 and ran on 10th St/Commerce Ave in South Richmond 4.2 miles to the terminal. VA 336 did not connect to US 1 but instead ended at SR 1210 Ruffin Rd.
In June 1941 (CTB), VA 336 was placed on today's Commerce Ave from Dinwiddie Ave northward.
In early 1942 the General Assembly passed a law giving the CTB the ability to build VA 336 within the newly annexed part of Richmond, if, in its discretion, it deems proper so to do. It appears the CTB did not do this and decommissioned the route instead to no number, but was eventually VA 416 #2 decades later. Today it again carries no number.
I-95 might have altered some of the south end of this VA 336.
