Creation: Appeared in 1981 as a renumbering of SC 69, running as it does today, plus it cut back west to US 17 at the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge. This is the 2nd SC 65.
Adjustments: In 1987, the northern connection back to US 17 was renumbered as part of SC 9.
Improvements: Fully paved upon designation; multilane on all of Ocean Blvd north of 15th Av S.
Comment: SC 65 runs along the oceanfront, using 27th Av S to get from US 17 to the beach.

SC 61: 4.9 - 47.4
SC 65 #1: Appeared in 1929 as new primary routing, running from US 78 (now S-5-18) Farrells Crossroads southeast to SC 64 past Givhans, with projected routing continuing southeast to SC 61 (now SC 165 CONN) Cooks Crossroads.
In 1932, SC 65's projected route was changed to follow SC 64 across the Ashley River, then projected to continue southeast to SC 61 (now SC 165) south of Summerville.
In 1933, SC 65 was extended west partially over US 78 and partially as new construction from Farrells Crossroads to the new US 78.
Also in 1933, SC 65 was shown as complete southeast of SC 64 to SC 61 (now SC 165).
In Dec 1950, SC 65 was rerouted at SC 64 to instead replace SC 650 southeast to SC 61 (now SC 165 CONN) at Cooks Crossroads. The old SC 65 path east of the Ashley River became part of SC 642.
