Creation: Appeared about 1976 as a renumbering of US 119 running as it does now. This is the 2nd WV 17.
| Adjustments: None Improvements: Paved upon inception; no multilane segments Comment: WV 17 has a signed TRUCK route at its southern end, using CR 700/63 and CR 119/20. WV 17 is planned to extend across the Guyandotte River to reach the relocated WV 10 expressway. There is so far no evidence that WV 17 was extended over old WV 10 into Logan.

WV 17 #1: Appeared 1922 as new primary routing running from WV 3 (now US 60) St Albans to WV 62 (now WV 2) Henderson.
About 1970, WV 17 was replced by US 35. Today it is all of WV 817, a little US 35, and CR 35/11 Chestnut St within Henderson.
