US 11Y #1: Appeared in July 1933 as a renumbering of VA 33Y, running along Coalter Ave from Staunton north to US 11 Augusta St, although outside of Staunton may not have been given mileage until after this was renumbered. Mentioned explicitly in the Aug 1933 CTB as route 11Y on Coalter St. This became part of mainline US 11 in March 1934 CTB. 11 and 11Y are shown erroneously as swapped on the 1933 official.
US 11Y #2: Appeared March 1934 (CTB) as a renumbering of mainline US 11 from VA 5 (now US 250) Staunton north to US 11 (now Coalter St). In Oct 1935 (CTB), US 11Y returned to being part of mainline US 11. Today it is part of US 11 Business. US 11Y appeared on official maps 1933-36. However, they never showed the move to Coalter Ave. US 11Y #3?: Appears in Aug 1947 CTB in the allocation section. It is unclear if this is a road already in existence or if this was the pre-designation for the current US 11 bypass of Staunton...
