Adjustments: Between 1941-51, SC 24 was removed from Old Port Rd/Abercrombie Rd in the Anderson Airport area.
In 1961 or 1962, SC 24 was rerouted in the SC 187 area by following new SC 24-187 construction west across an arm of Lake Hartwell. The new western split of SC 24-187 is 0.6 miles north of the old location. Some of the old SC 24 survives as S-4-34 Whitehall Rd.

In 1962, SC 24's east end moved from Market and Main to Whitner and Main, coinciding with the elimination of SC 80. Webb St became S-4-513.
In 1998 or 1999, SC 24 east was truncated to Murray St.

Improvements: SC 24 was fully paved upon designation.
SC 24 was 4-laned from SC 28 to a little west of the SC 187 SB split in 2005.
Comment: SC 24 is actually shorter from Westminster to Anderson than US 76 and passes through less towns and slowdowns.
SC 24 (EB at SC 28 Byp) had the newest looking shield using the S. CAROLINA inside the square I'd ever seen in the late 1980s.

In 1929, SC 24 was rerouted at North to continue east replacing SC 6 to Orangeburg, then following SC 2 through Bowman and Harleyville before ending at US 78. The old routing south to Olar became part of SC 6 (now US 321).
