Creation: SC 105 appeared in 1940 as new primary routing, running from SC 103 (now S-11-13) southeast through Wilkinsville to Howell Ferry Rd (just short of today's SC 211). A second piece ran from SC 5 (now SC 97) Hickory Grove southwest to the Broad River bridge. This is the only SC 105.
| Adjustments: In 1942, the Hickory Grove piece was renumbered as part of SC 211 and the Wilkinsville piece was extended southwest as new primary routing to end at SC 98 (now SC 105 SB/211 WB jct) Sarratt. In 1947, SC 105 was extended northwest replacing SC 103 to end at SC 11 (now SC 18) Gaffney. In 1956, SC 105 was extended south replacing SC 98 to end at SC 9-49 Robat.
In late 1959, SC 105 was extended south replacing SC 49 to the new aalignment of SC 49.
In 1975, SC 105 was extended into Gaffney with SC 18; then over S-11-264, S-11-172, and S-11-89 to SC 150; over S-11-133 to Irene Creek then new construction then over S-11-42 to I-85.
Improvements: SC 105 was fully paved on all alignments since inception in 1940 In 2006, SC 105 was multilaned from I-85 to US 29. It is also multilaned on its SC 18 duplex. Comment: SC 105 covers the southeast Cherokee County region. SC 105 between SC 18 and SC 150 prohibits truck traffic but there is no TRUCK route signed to get around this as far as I can tell. |
