If SC 175 ever used today's Rich Rd/SC 908 or Blackburn Rd near US 501 it stopped doing so by 1935.
In July 1936 (SCDOT), SC 175 was extended northwest using Academy St through Kingstree then west to the Sumter County Line as new primary routing, and a separate piece was created as new primary routing between SC 54 (current US 378) and US 301 Sardinia.
In 1940, SC 175 west was truncated to US 52 Kingstree. West to SC 54 became SC 527.

In 1952, SC 175 was renumbered as SC 261 from Kingstree to Hemingway; SC 41 from Hemingway to Centenary; SC 41 ALT from Centenary to US 501.
