Creation: US 70 was an original US route in December 1926, added to TN 1 from Arkanas at Memphis to Nashville; with TN 24 from Nashville to Lebanon; with TN 26 from Lebanon to Sparta; with TN 1 from Sparta to Knoxville; with TN 9 from Knoxville to North Carolina near Wolf Creek.
Adjustments: Tennessee in Nov 1927 started showing US 70 from Lebanon to Sparta as US 70N on maps.
AASHO eventually noticed US 70N on Tennessee maps and accepted their belated request to make this change in May 1929
